"Perhaps the single most exciting and pivotal day of photography for me that I have experienced was in the wee hours of August 16, 2020.  It is extremely rare to see lightning strikes in the Bay Area, and certainly, none this pronounced and close up." 

"I spent hours chasing bolts all over until I finally wound up with his view of the Oakland Bay Bridge.  I was clicking away incessantly until I finally stopped, took a breath, closed my eyes, and decided to feel and imagine what I wanted … a few moments later, I happened to click the shutter. This amazing set of lightning occurred while it was open in a magical instant. I almost couldn’t believe it when I saw that I had captured it.  Sadly, many of the lightning strikes this morning caused a lot of wildfires and smoke in the weeks ahead."
