We Are Oaklandish: Brandan Barlow, Oaklandish Team Member

I moved to Oakland in 2013 to start over. Growing up in Riverside, there wasn’t much to do because of the limited resources. After graduating from college, I reached a point where I felt like my life was on auto pilot and I was eager to try something new. It didn’t take me long to become acclimated to my new city. It felt like home almost immediately. I used AC Transit as my tour guide, taking the bus aboard allowed me to see many sides of the East Bay, meet new people and go new places. I quickly discovered that...

A hotbed for social movements and culture that has transformed the world. Oaklandish Unchained video series continues this proud tradition by celebrating the people of The Town. We Are Oaklandish: Marcos Montoya, Proud East Oaklander

Growing up in Oakland is a complex experience. I'm sure that everyone’s who has experienced an Oakland childhood can relate to this statement in one way or another.  The neighborhood I grew up in had a lot of gang related crime and at times the problem was dire. Yet, the families in my community were resilient. We stuck through it together, and were there for each other, especially in the worst moments.  My community in East Oakland is strong and vibrant. It grew from within because everyone invited everyone else in the neighborhood to family parties, and we cooked dinner...

We Are Oaklandish: Tunde Ahmad, Babe Ruth Baseball League

The first time I saw the Oaklandish baseball jersey I felt so nostalgic. It reminded me of my time playing in the East Oakland's Babe Ruth league at Greenman Field.  Every April we'd parade from Concordia Park on 62nd to Greenman Field on 66th for opening day. The streets were blocked off, and the previous year's champions rode in the back of trucks, making everybody envious and wanting to win the upcoming season. There was always a huge BBQ, team pictures, and day filled with fun family events. It was the best! The league was a staple of Oakland culture and...

Design Intern: Angel Viguerias

Design Intern: Angel Viguerias

Thanks to Earn & Learn East Bay, we had the opportunity to host a paid intern this summer from Skyline High School. Earn & Learn’s mission is to bring together learners and employers to diversify the workforce. This program matched hundreds of businesses and youth together to provide meaningful internship opportunities. Our design intern Angel Viguerias came highly recommended by Rachel Kantor, his Design teacher at Skyline. Rachel told us that despite her class being focused on graphic design this year, they did not have enough computers available for student to become adept at digital art. She said that Angel is a very passionate artist with...

Finale at Oracle

We're honored that the Golden State Warriors chose Oaklandish as their design partner for the Fan Night tees for the last regular season game at Oracle. We're a bit heartbroken that this is the last season here in Oakland, but we will still claim the Warriors for Oakland. Below is a behind-the-scenes look at the inspiration behind the design, made by Adobe Create. And if you want to own a little piece of history, you can get your very own Finale tee here. Keak da Sneak March 21, 2019

Keak blessed us last night with honesty, humility, wisdom and humor. We had a great turnout the downtown shop for this intimate Q&A with a local legend. Keak spoke about getting shot, having a gun, and trying to stay out of jail. Tyranny of Marketing Kings led the conversation, delving into Keak's influences and the huge body of work Keak has already amassed, and work he has already finished, just waiting to be set out into the world. We are all looking forward to a bright future of triumphs for Keak. And... FREE KEAK! Video recap coming soon! In the meantime,...
