One of The Town’s oldest and longest running traditions, Oakland Feather River Camp has been providing meaningful and unique outdoor recreation experiences in the Sierra to Oakland youth and families from every corner of the our city since 1924 through family, youth and group camping programs.
Because Feather River Camp is Oakland’s summer youth and family camp, OFRC strives to be a mountain microcosm of the Town. To that end, in 2019, OFRC provided a record $72,000 in camp scholarships, which provided over 440 campers with a mountain overnight camp experience that they otherwise would have not been able to participate in. Our goal is to keep expanding access so that OFRC is accessible to all Oaklanders who want to experience the magic of the mountains.
Like many nonprofits, summer programs, and small businesses rooted in gathering and community building, OFRC has been hit hard by COVID-19. Oaklandish created this new design for OFRC in order to help raise funds to support the camp. Proceeds from sales of this design will support a safe Summer 2021 reopening and will ensure that OFRC can continue to ensure meaningful and memorable summer mountain experiences are accessible to every Oaklander regardless of their financial position.
Oaklandish has a deeply rooted history of giving back to Oakland nonprofits. Oakland Feather River Camp is committed to making their little mountain microcosm of The Town more reflective of our great city and proceeds from this shirt will help ensure our nonprofit can survive this public health crisis and continue to expand access to the members of our community who have been affected the most by systemic inequities.
