Article: Oakland Feather River Camp

Happy campers group shot.

Oakland Feather River Camp

We're thrilled to support Oakland Feather River Camp, one of The Town’s oldest and most cherished community programs. Feather River camp, located in the Plumas National Forest, is Oakland’s only overnight summer camp.

The camp has provided outdoor experiences for Bay Area youth and their families since 1924. Generations of Bay Area residents have participated as campers, then as counsellors in their teens, and then again as parents bringing their kids to family camps.

The camp strives to be accessible to all Oaklanders, including those most impacted by systemic inequities. In 2019, the camp raised over $70,000 for camper scholarships and provided 440 young Oaklanders a life-changing overnight outdoor experience they could not have otherwise afforded.

Like many nonprofits, summer programs, and small businesses rooted in gathering and community-building, Oakland Feather River Camp was hard hit by the pandemic. So, Oaklandish is stepping up to help raise funds to ensure this far-reaching community institution survives and thrives.

We created some special limited-edition Oakland Feather River Camp tees and are donating a portion of the sales proceeds to OFRC.

Our goal is to help facilitate a safe reopening so we’re excited to announce that Family Camp registration is now open for summer 2021We urge you to sign up now and make new friends in their safe outdoor facility and enjoy some much-needed recreation and relaxation.

Discounts are available for new families as well as scholarships & financial assistance for those who qualify.

Visitors will get to enjoy some of the camp’s traditional activities like dance lessons, hikes, and ping pong tournament in a more limited capacity.

Oaklandish is thrilled to what we can to help ensure that the camp continues to positively impact the lives of kids who’ll one day grow up to be the heartbeat of The Town.

Please support Oakland Feather River Camp and shop our limited-edition tee collection.
