Chonto is an Oakland-based artist whose abstract expressionism explores contemporary relevance alongside critical historical events. Chonto tries to find the hidden gems that help make up current life and expose their truth and significance.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Pablo Picasso, Rammellzee just to name a few, Chonto uses lines and colorful symbols to provoke thoughtfulness in his pieces.
