This past weekend, the
Golden State Oakland Warriors held a parade to celebrate their NBA Championship season. The parade route ran through downtown and around the southwestern portion of Lake Merritt, before coming to a meeting place just in front of the Henry J. Kaiser Auditorium. An estimated crowd of over one million people gathered in the streets of Oakland to celebrate something that has been 40 years in the making!
People of all ages and races dressed in their finest blue and yellow attire, cheered on as the players, coaches, and elected officials rolled by in double decker buses, on floats, a flaming snail car, and a couple of convertible classic cars.
On the corner of 11th and Oak, right across the street from the Oakland Museum of California, we found a rooftop to take in all the action. Here are some of our favorites from this past weekend.Lake Merritt
