September Nonprofit of the Month: Community Education Partnerships

Oaklandish is proud to announce our Non-Profit of the Month for the September: Community Education Partnerships!

The purpose of Community Education Partnerships (CEP) is to provide educational support to homeless children in the Bay Area. The primary function of the community-based organization is to recruit and train volunteers to provide high-quality academic tutoring for homeless children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

CEP recruits and trains volunteers to provide high-quality, individualized one-on-one academic tutoring and mentoring for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade homeless students. As a lack of transportation presents one of the most significant challenges homeless children face in their education, CEP takes its services to the children.

CEP provides all of its students with grade-appropriate backpacks, school supplies, and books throughout the school year. Additionally, CEP offers opportunities for Bay Area homeless students to participate in extra-curricular enrichment activities like field trips and CEP-hosted shelter-based activities, such as a Summer Reading Club, Family Reading Nights, and Back to School Nights.

Please join us on Saturday, September 17th (12-4pm) at our Dimond Oaklandish Store (3419 Fruitvale Ave.) to learn more about Community Education Partnerships and all their incredibly important programs – 10% of the day’s proceeds will go directly to support the great organization!
