Nonprofit of the Month: Mamacitas Cafe

Welcome to coffee and donuts…Oakland style. You know Mamacitas Cafe is baking up something special when we recognize them as, not only our Nonprofit of the Month for June, but also as one of our 2015 Innovators Award winners. Mamacitas was founded by Directors Renee Geesler and Shana Lancaster who are fierce advocates of Oakland and believe in creating jobs that cultivate long term economic possibilities for our city’s young women.

100% women-owned and operated, Mamacitas is a mobile cafe specializing in their signature Donut Kebab and a variety of artisanal beverages including locally roasted Red Bay Coffee and their own handmade Lavender Lemonade. And their values are just as delicious: hyper-local business practices and prioritizing job creation and training for girls in Oakland facing significant barriers to employment. We can definitely get down with that.

As our Nonprofit of the Month, we have the privilege of hosting their one-year anniversary at our Dimond shop. Come by, learn more about the cause, their work, and taste this crazy Donut Kebab! Check out the event details below:
