Another First Friday in the books!
With a packed house at the downtown Oakland Oaklandish store, we tapped into our local love and had a night to remember with both London and Prentice Powell putting on signature, town-influenced sets. As always, we had Dion Decibels holding it down on the 1’s and 2’s and setting the tone, and if all that wasn’t enough, we had a special guest appearance by none other than Oakland’s own Adrian Marcel.
Prentice Powell got the night started with his powerful spoken word, and during the first piece we all knew this wouldn’t be an average First Friday affair. Next up we saw London preview some of his tracks up the upcoming album ‘Welcome to Londonland’ to great hometown applause (make sure to look through the gallery of photos above, clearly people were feeling it.) London definitely brought the fire, with DNas, Erk, and Pen egging him on. At the end of the night, Raphael Saadiq protege Adrian Marcel came through in the clutch and performed a few tracks including his hit “2 AM.”
Everyone at Oaklandish wants to thank those in attendance, along with these three talented acts. All in all this First Friday was lit!!!
All gallery photos were taken by our photographer for the night, Max Claus. Give him a look when you can on his website.
