You heard right. Tomorrow, July 6, downtown Oakland comes alive with the beats of Panabay. For the one-year anniversary of our downtown retail flagship, we’re celebrating with Los Rakas. The critically acclaimed duo will be filling the night with their swagger, infectious rhymes, and dancehall beats.
Only in the heart of Oakland. Join us from 7 – 11pm at 1444 Broadway, with drinks from our friends at Linden Street Brewery and Urban Legend Cellars. Fivetenburger will be curbside with hearty snacks. Resident DJ, Dion Decibels will be on the turntables before and after the live set.
The night’s festivities will also feature art designed in-house by the Oaklandish design team. Screen-printed wood pieces will feature the best in Oaklandish local love.
In true Oakland fashion, this event is free and open to anyone with local love in their hearts. But stop by Oaklandish HQ early because the space is likely to fill up fast. Los Rakas is expected to perform sometime after 9pm.
If you just can’t wait until Friday, check out Los Rakas’ video for ‘Soy Raka,’ produced by YAK FILMS, featuring TURF FEINZ.
And listen to Los Rakas chat with Maria Hinojosa of Latino USA about the origins of their name and the music they coined “Panabay.”
